Once you sign up for your New Student Orientation session, your academic advisor for your college will reach out to you to discuss your course options, enroll you for classes, discuss your major, and answer questions that you may have about starting at A-State. Here is a list of Academic Advisors at A-State: https://www.astate.edu/college/university-college/academic-advising-at-a-state/index.dot
*Update 7/1/20: If you have not yet been contacted by an advisor, please reach out to Melissa Jackson in the Wilson Advising Center at 870-972-3001 or mjackson@AState.edu.
Preparing for your NSO Advising Session
Be sure to have your AP and concurrent credits sent to A-State to become part of your official record before the Fall semester begins. You will want to have a list of these college credits available for your advising session. Your academic advisors will provide information about your degree plan in your advising session so that going forward, you will know which courses to select. Most first year schedules include General Education courses as well as a First Year Experience (FYE) course. Some students will also take introductory courses within their major. First Year Experience is a college success course required of all incoming students during their first semester. This course serves as an extended orientation and acquaints students with college resources, study skills, degree information and is coupled with campus activities.
Change of Major
