June 11 – 15 Time: 8:30 – 12:00 Age: PK – 2nd Grade Cost: $100.00
Description: Children in this camp will have MANY crayons, and paints, and textures, fabrics, papers, textiles, sparkly and shiny objects with which to create and construct. Children love the book, A Day with No Crayons, and this will serve as a springboard for lots of creative opportunities for self-expression and exploration of the 5 types of basic media: paint, cutting, tearing, pasting, and drawing. Lucy’s Picture about a little girl in Kindergarten is a great springboard for collage.
Ezra Jack Keats’ books, Whistle for Willie, Peter’s Chair, The Snowy Day, Goggles, as well as many others, all use collage and children can easily recognize newspapers in his books, wall paper, holiday wrapping paper, and other common types of paper in his illustrations. Another well-known author, Eric Carle, author of The Very Hungry Caterpillar, The Grouchy Ladybug, and many more, is another author who uses collage as a tool for illustration.
Daily snacks and fun songs complete this camp.
